Even though this BQ is technically NOT in Calloway County, since we painted it and this view is from Calloway County we are claiming it as ours,

This Blazing Star quilt pattern was put on my tobacco barn on the West Stateline Road in memory of my late husband and late son: Elisha and Randy Taylor and also for the rest of my family to enjoy.  Elisha built this barn in 1955.

Thornton  1749 Lassiter Rd Murray KY  8x8 Patriotic

This stars and stripes barn quilt is just east of Murray.  The family held a picnic on Flag Day 2015 to dedicate this quilt.

We learned about the history of the family and the farm, the patriotism and faith of this family. and the story behind the design. We used a patriotic bag/purse for the inspiration. I did not realize at the time that every girl in the family was given one of these handmade bags and the boy a similar designed stuffed animal. It was a lovely bright sunny June afternoon. AND my first BQ dedication. This family is honored to now be part of the Calloway County Quilt Trail.

This quilt block depicts the Crown of David Pattern quilt that Fran’s mother put on the girls’ bed every Christmas Eve and Christmas night only.  It came from South Carolina and the quilt has very tiny stars on the crowns.  It is at least 150 years old.

Stahler’s Farm 317 Stahler Lane Murray -  4x4 Cross

Check out our newest quilt square. Actually there are two.. Back to back so you can see them from either direction as you drive past the Stahler’s on SR 121 South
This pattern was chosen to represent Jim and Judy’s faith and the colors to coordinate with the colors on the Stahler’s Dairy and Poultry farm sign at the end of Stahler Lane. This quilt square was a gift to each other to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary August 14, 2015 and to honor their 50 years in the dairy business that came to a close also in 2015. The cross pattern represents the new direction in ministry that Jim has turn too after he retired from the dairy farm business in May of 2015. Stahler Dairy Farm was established in 1969 and in 1990 it became Stahler’s Dairy and Poultry Farm after 4 poultry barns were added to the farming operation. Now after being married 50 years, Jim and Judy decided that inorder to move forward into the future, the dairy farm would be closed and a new door would be open into serving their community through their church. This quilt square will be a reminder that when one doors closes another opens even after 50 years.

311 Paschall Road   Murray KY  8x8 9 patch fan

This square represents the beautiful fan quilt that was hand pieced by Ruth Paschall in 1988.  At the time the quilt was made, she was 75 years old and she usually “turned out” two hand pieced quilts each winter.  She made each quilt for a family member  stitching their name on the quilt,  This particular quilt was made for grandson Rick Paschall.  The barn quilt is displayed on a working tobacco barn that was built by Ruth Paschall’s father and husband and is currently owned by Ruth;s grandson Rick Paschall. The barn sits on a farm that was owned by Ruth’s grandparents and has remained in the family to this date.  At this time, Ruth’s grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren still live on this farm.
